2017-2018 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Preseason Girls High School Rankings:
2017‐2018 All Bahamian Brand Bahamian Girls Preseason High School Rankings
1. Doris Johnson HS Lady Mystic Marlins:
6’2 Bahamian Junior National Teamer Briontae Riley (Pictured) and Tenae Bowleg will form the best 1-‐2 Punch in Bahamian High School Basketball. Bowleg can defend. Shoot and score on the perimeter and Briontae is absolutely dominating on the interior rebounding, scoring around the rim and changing shots. Guard Thompson is gone, who was the steady hand running the offense last season. Also gone is GSSSA championship Game MVP Kendra Sturrup, who sunk the Championship sealing Free Throws to give The Mystic Marlins the GSSSA Championship to cap last season. We have no doubt somebody will step up for the Lady Mystic Marlins. In a serendipitous Bahamian historic irony, Doris Johnson HS is number 1 in Girls High School Basketball.
2. Jordan Prince William High School Lady Falcons:
The All Bahamian Brand BAISS Player of the Year lost it’s catalyst in the diminutive giant Terrell Cox. Cox was the offensive spark plug for the relentlessly pressuring “Angry Bird” 2017 National Championship Team. Another big defection was Head Coach “RedEye” McSweeney who quarterbacked the Falcons to their first and Only National Championship in their schools’ History. The Falcons had an unbelievably deep core of talent and their chance at repeating will be dependent on their ability to re-‐create a defensive environment similar to last season. Speedster Guard Shanique Thompson can break any defense and run any offense as a ball handler, Judy Forbes is a tweener that specializes in defense and slashing, Shooter and Post Player extraordinaire Robyn Porter form a tireless hardworking core that will put JPWHS in position to be at or near the top of Bahamian Basketball again this season.
At Number 2 is the JPW Falcons.
3. Tabernacle Baptist HS Lady Falcons:
For one of the first times in our Rankings, the same High School is at or near the Bahamian top in our Preseason Rankings.
Tabby is back on top of the heap as Number 3 in the Country. The deepest most versatile backcourt led last season was led by two Junior National Teamers Guard Diondre Nixon and Myah Greene. Whether they can keep the core together is another thing. Head Coach Shan Gardner might be the best Barber in Freeport, Grand Bahama but you can add that to her list of talents along with Coaching. Gardner has led Tabernacle to a GBSSA Championship before and it’s looking as though they will be in the hunt again this upcoming season. Coming in at Number 3 are the Tabernacle Baptist Lady Falcons.
4. Harbour Island High School:
Coach “Pecka” Johnson is the one of two Bahamians Nationals to have produced and coached a future Girls McDonalds All American in the person of Now University of Texas Guard Lashann Higgs. Yes, there was some developments made by her time in a Texas High School but the majority of the oh so important groundwork for success was laid right on the outdoor court of “Briland” under the watchful eye of Coach J’. Harbour Island consistently produces top notch talent out of this program and 5’6 Combo Guard Shann Roberts is next in line. Roberts is a future collegian, without question! Now there were a few other prospects in the Junior and Senior Girls program that were quality and Harbour Island HS has a pedigree of winning games. Coming in at Number 4 is Harbour Island HS Lady Panthers.
5. Bishop Michael Eldon HS Lady Warriors:
Coach Hollingsworth, Nope...Not Mr. Hollingsworth, Ms. Cherish Hollingsworth has Bishop Michael Eldon Freeport back in prime position to compete again for a Grand Bahama and High School National Championship. The Warriors had a collection of athletic and crafty ball handling guards that played an exciting and up tempo brand of basketball last season. BMES will bring some excitement to the floor this upcoming season and if things go as expected they should win some games as well this year. Coming in at number 5
6. C. I. Gibson HS:
Latavia Brennen was in our assessment absolutely the most talented Player in Girls Bahamian High School Basketball last season. There was nothing Latavia could not do and she did it all in 6’o frame which was taller than most of her competition. Brennan from the Forward/Guard position rebounded, ran the floor, scored near the basket, scored on the perimeter and defended with the best in the country. She was also a Bahamian National Teamer in Volleyball. Brennen is a bonafide College Athlete. With all that said, C.I. Gibson also had a quality cast of players to go along with Brennen, In addition, Point Guard Santae Brown, Wing Jet'ane Trembley and Forward Rose Johnson were solid. The question is many or all who we just mentioned might have been lost to Graduation so it is not sure how the Lady Rattlers will fare this season. A steady pipeline of talent is often favorably pointing towards C.I. Gibson so in time someone will definitely emerge. Coming in at Number 6, The C.I. Gibson Rattlers.
7. St. John’s College HS:
Ok, Fresh off a 2017 Girls High School Basketball National Championship, Coach “Redeye“ McSweeney is one of the best Coaches in Bahamian Girls Basketball History. Whilst St. John’s Girls Basketball has Not exactly been a powerhouse, McSweeney has won EVERYWHERE that he has been. Laying the Groundwork for Championships at Temple Christian Academy, Winning at the Night League Level and then again last year at Jordan Prince William. Interestingly enough, The Lady Green Giants are just that...Huge on the backline at both the Junior and Senior Girls Level. There is definitely some potential Collegiate Talent here and the right person to harvest that just walked in the door. Coming in at The LUCKY NUMBER 7 is the St. Johns Lady Green Giants.
8. Ankrephan International Academy HS:
Whilst many people in the Bahamas do not believe that Ankephran International can compete with St. Augustine’s College HS, Girls High School Basketball might be the convening thing here. Guards Shadimon and Princess (We couldn't make this up!) form one of the best backcourts in the BSAA and they will also have a quality supporting cast. If they maximize this season, Ankephran Girls Basketball will be stellar. If there are any questions, St. Augustine’s can contact us and we will gladly arrange an independent scrimmage to settle this or St. Augustine’s can go right down the hill to their northern most Gate, take a right and request a scrimmage to settle who is the best Girls Basketball team. The point is Ankrephran girls Basketball might be that good. Coming in at number 8 is Ankrephran International Academy.
9. St. Augustine’s College HS Big Red Machine:
Just Two years ago, St. Augustine’s College was completing a Four-Peat of BAISS Championships, then led by Future Olympian Serena Brown. Whilst that might not be the case again this season, Coach Sands-Moultrie and SAC will always be tough in BAISS competition. Coming in at number 9 is St. Augustine’s College HS.
10. C.R. Walker HS:
Over the course of the last Five years, Coach Tia Rolle has led her team to a 54 game winning streak, won two High School National Championships, Two Geneva Rutherford Championship Tournaments and of course the GSSSA Crown on numerous occasions. Rolle, has done all of this within the last 5 years. Former JRNT Forward Ulrica Woodside is gone but, a very good team attitude always surrounds C.R. Walker Girls Basketball, someone is sure to emerge this season. So at present the C.R. Walker Knights is the most successful program in Senior Girls Basketball in the Bahamas. Now, whilst the recent emergence of GSSSA Rival Doris Johnson HS and CI Gibson HS has taken focus off of them a bit at the national scene, C.R. Walker HS deserves some validity simply because of their successful body of work. At Number 10 is C. R. Walker HS.
St. Andrews Lady Hurricanes:
Most people aren't exactly sure if this was a typing error or not but believe it or not, St. Andrews Lady Hurricanes Basketball is pretty solid. Returning is All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection and one of the front runners for All Bahamian Brand BAISS Preseason Player of the Year 5'8 Guard Vandia Williams. Williams, most the scoring and rebounding are back from a team that beat St. Augustine's College at SAC and made the Playoffs Last season. St. Andrew's was and still is a serious BAISS contender on this and last season. We hate to say it but a Lady Hurricanes are coming to destroy whatever expectations of BAISS Girls Basketball supremacy that you might have. In a Tie for the Tenth Spot is St. Andrews Lady Hurricanes.
Honorable Mention Teams:
Freedom Baptist Academy:
Whilst most people do not even know where Freedom Baptist Academy HS even located, just know if you happened to be in their area....Their Girls Basketball team is a disciplines quality group. An uptempto style of play with a ready to go to war mindset was what pushed Freedom Baptist onto the National Scene last season. Freedom was led last year by a Trio of quality young guards, Kevonne McClausky, Brianna LeFrance and Lalique Gibson and they will probably return the good majority of their offensive and defensive production. Mix in quality Coaching and Freedom no doubt warrants some mention in our All Bahamian Brand Pre-Season Rankings. They Barely, and we mean BARELY, Missed our Preseason Top Ten is Freedom Baptist Academy. If they continue to develop and grow as a program they will definitely be ranked as the season progresses.
R.M. Bailey Senior HS:
The Biggest, and I repeat the Biggest surprise in GSSSA Basketball has been the re-‐ emergence of R.M. Bailey Lady Pacer Basketball. Captained and controlling from the Point guard position is 5’4 Trenice Cormarcho. Cormarcho last season sets the table and the tone for two 6’4 and one 6’1 Post who roamed the frontcourt for R.M. Bailey. With all that talent and a positive showing from last season, The Lady Pacers appear to be back in the hunt for GSSSA relevance. Earning some Honorable Mention are the R.M. Bailey Pacers.
Kingsway Academy HS:
6’2 Post Player and Bahamas Junior National Team Center Michelle Butler steadily mans the post for the Kingsway Academy Saints. Kingsway Academy has had some defections and graduations over the last couple years but overall they are still a solid program. IF and how quickly Butler can exert her true dominance and get some perimeter help determines how fast and how high Kingsway can climb up the BAISS ladder. Honorable Mention status for Kingsway Academy in our preseason rankings.
Bimini Gateway Christian HS:
With a NCAA Certified Tournament being housed at their house, we are assured some of this high level of basketball is soaking in somewhere in Bimini. Bimini is the new Bahamian Hotbed for just about EVERYTHING so we are assured it extends to Girls Basketball as well. As an Honorable Mention, Bimini’s Gateway Christian HS earns some ink in our All Bahamian Brand Preseason Girls Rankings
Telios Christian Academy Lady Cherubims
After the graduation of All Bahamian Brand BSAA Player of the Year Keishonna Mather, many might think Telios is off the map but we know better. Telios is a program that has consistently been able to produce quality players virtually every year. Looking to be next to step into the spotlight is 6'4 Junior National Team Post Erin Williams. The Lady Cherubims are worthy of some Honorable Mention in this our 2017 Preseason Rankings.
Mt. Carmel Christian Academy Lady Cavaliers:
All Bahamian Brand Girls BSAA Player of The Year Alkeia Rolle and All Bahamian Brand Selection Davia Christopher have either graduated or moved on to greener pastures. So the question now for The Lady Cavaliers is where do they go from here? There are a few talented holdovers left; a good starting point would literally be the Starting point guard who as a Freshman last season and helped lead her team to a Regular season Championship. Mt Carmel earns some Honorable Mention.
2017-2018 The All Bahamian Brand Official Bahamian High School Basketball Preseason Rankings
2017-2018 All Bahamian Brand Bahamian High School Rankings
1. Tabernacle Baptist HS: Yes, Franco Miller is gone but…That’s about all that is gone from The Tabernacle Baptist Falcons. The Falcons are led by All Bahamian Brand Selections 6’7 Forward Regis Cooper and 6’7 Shyrone Kemp who together will form what is the best defensive backline in All of Bahamian High School Basketball this year. Cooper and Kemp, Block and change shots as well as finish around the basket with the best in Bahamian High School Hoops! On the Perimeter, Ladies and Gentlemen, 5’1o Point Guard Desmond Butler and 6’4 Seandre Todd are NO JOKE!! Wing Todd has all of the tools to be the best Two Guard in the Country and Point Guard Butler IS the best High School Point Guard in the country, until proven otherwise. The big Question for Tabernacle is how MUCH better has Butler, Todd and Kemp gotten over the summer, if they have improved massively, Tabernacle will not miss a beat. With that said as it stands right now Coach Clarke and Tabby is back on top of the heap as Number 1 in the Country.
2. C. I. Gibson HS: Yes, It looks like a rerun but yes, The Rattlers are back at it again. Glue Guy and All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection Forward Asher Scavella is graduated BUT…We are assured that somebody will step up for the Rattlers on the interior this year. All Bahamian Brand Selection and All Bahamian Brand National Player of the Year Front Runner Terrance “KG Teddy” Storr leads the deepest selection of college level guards in Bahamian High School Basketball. 6’4 Combo Guard Dionte’ Tinker is a perennial Collegian, 6’2 Terrell Butler does his best James Harden Impersonation every time he steps on the court and is also a perennial Collegian and 5’1o Point Guard Darrio “Muggy” Saunders started games as a 1st Year Player for a Team that was ranked in the Top 4 for virtually all of last season. We are assured that the Rattlers will have someone step up in the post as a steady pipeline of talent is often favorably pointing towards C.I. Gibson. Coming in at Number 2, The C.I. Gibson Rattlers.
3 (a). Sunland Baptist Stingers: Yes, Over the last 3 Years the Stingers have lost 8 Players to College Scholarships, The most recent being 6’4 Combo Guard Brandon Meadows who could flat out ball! But Sunland’s Cupboard is never bare as she added the biggest impact Transfer in the Country, literally in the presence of 6’9 Martie Davis. Ladies and Gentlemen, Start your engines because Martie Davis is a PRO, Either in Football or Basketball, but he is a definite PRO in something! Davis has a Great Attitude, Soft Hands and a great feel around the basket. Add into the mix Bahamas JRNT Team Point Guard Joshua Cornish and Yes! Things are looking very bright in Sunland! Coming in at Number 3 are the Sunland Baptist Stingers.
4. (b): C. C. Sweeting Cobras: - Knock em down, Drag em out Basketball at it’s finest. The players are one year better and one year more mature from a team that’s greatest weakness was just immaturity on last season. All Bahamian Brand Selection Point Guard Ricardo Methius is perhaps the BEST on Ball defender in Bahamian High School Basketball. The Cobras are back and poised to be in the mix atop the GSSSA again this year. The Cobras might knock out anybody that gets in their way literally but their ability to win depends on how good they are at not an uptempo style of play BUT rather at how well they play at a mid or slow pace. Methius, Beckford and Co. will have the Cobras right back in prime position. C.C. Sweeting in our pre-season poll and comes in at number 4 in our Rankings.
5 (a): - St. Augustine’s College HS: What Bahamian High School team has the best player from the Island of Eleuthera, A Carifta Gold Medalist, A Bahamian Junior National Volleyball Player and the Best Point Guard in B.A.I. S.S.? Yeap, you guessed it…The Big Red Machine has some quality pieces returning from a 2016 BAISS Runner’s Up Finish on Last Year. Three All Bahamian Brand Selections in 6’4 Forward Jonathan Johnson, All Bahamian Brand Selection and Carifta Gold Medalist 6’4 Joel Johnson and Point Guard 5’1o CJ Clyde have SAC back near the top. Jason Burrows blocks shots, rebounds and anchors the backline for St. Augustine’s College so with that said Ladies and Gentlemen, SAC is BACK! Whilst the National High School Basketball Scene is another story, we are almost assured that Big Red will be a major competitor for the BAiSS Competition. At Number 5, St. Augustine’s College.
6 (b): - Jordan Prince William HS: Whilst the Falcons lost 5 Quality 12th Grade Student-Athletes, Three of which were 2017 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selections, one thing the Cupboard isn’t going to be, is bare. 6’5 Forward Mateo Taylor, 14 Year Old 6’6 D'eshawn Dean and the catalyst 6’6 Son of a Preacher Man Quebell Martin Jr. will give the Falcons a lot of punch come BAISS league time. How Quickly Point Guard Darius Lewis and Shooter Dwight Dean realize how good they can be potentially in the backcourt will determine how high the Falcons fly this season The difference for Jordan Prince William will be the emergence of a top flight Guard, Whilst there are a couple options, one that is head and shoulders of the rest MUST and probably will emerge and it’s just a matter of time. Coming in at Number 6 is JPWHS Falcons.
7: Jack Hayward HS -
6’1 Combo Guard Clevon Clarke, 6’4 Wing McKell Bethell and Former JRNT Jalen Hall will form what is hands down one of the solidest Guard Trios in Bahamian High School Basketball this year. Yes, The Wildcats did lose Akeem “OX” Hanna but everything else is top notch. How they are able to replace or get the contributions on the glass and around the basket that Hanna brought to the Wildcats will make all of the difference for the Wildcats this season. This is their first and highest spot in the Rankings since Buddy Hield, Kiplin Fowler, Chester Griffin, Phillip Jones and Co were in a Wildcat uniform. Only time will tell if they are able to repeat that success of yesteryear. Coming in at Number 7 is the Sir Jack Hayward HS Wildcats.
8. Anatol Rodgers HS: -
Well, He is gone…at least he should be! All Bahamian Brand GSSSA Player Of The Year Dominic Bridgewater has reportedly accepted a High School Scholarship to Miami Champagnat Catholic HS. In addition to this, All Bahamian Brand Selection 6’4 Forward Tyriq Bain used his stellar GPA to gain an Academic Scholarship to Ohio’s Central State University. So…What or where will the Timberwolves be? All Bahamian Brand Selection Tayshon “Mellon” McHardy and 5’9 Guard Kirk Farrington will dominate the basketball this season but expect contributions from JRNT 6’5 Tweener Forward Guard Kayvanno Whitfield. Whilst the balance of power has potentially shifted and Coach McCoy finally broke through to gain his first GSSSA Championship on last season, one of at least 5 Total Titles on what was the best season in Anatol Rodgers HS’s short Basketball History last year. Whether they are able to replicate it depends on if All Bahamian Brand Selection 6’4 Wing Andre Calvert, who transferred in from Temple Christian, is able to fill Bridgewater and Bain’s massive shoes. A lot of pressure and responsibility for one player but Anatol’s success depends on replacing the major holes left at Forward and Guard from Last year’s season. Coming in at number 8, is the Anatol Rodgers Timberwolves.
9: Ankephran International Academy: With a slew of Guards and an uptempo system, we are unsure who benefited more from the success of their cross town rivals Telios Christian. Telios, whose two top players gained scholarships to High Schools over this past Summer definitely benefits the Scarabs as it relates to BSAA competition. The Top two players from Telios, who were underclassmen and were set to return before their exodus, were key factors in last years BSAA Championship Series. Telios beat Ankephran International in last year’s BSAA Championship game, but that core of that group for Telios are all gone but Ankephran returns the majority of their core players. So…Ankephran International, who has a slew of quality young players are expected to be at or near the top of BSAA League competition (by default almost). Whilst they are going to get a challenge from Noble Prep and of course Telios will of course reimerge; As of right now, Ankephran International looks to be the favorite; barring incident. Coming in At number 9, Ankephran International Academy.
10: St. George’s HS: Everyone! Yeap, Everyone from a 31-5 National Championship team is gone. We were estatic to see that a Coach that has helped to get Bahamian High School Players to a High School at young ages was still able to breakthrough and do both in the same year: Namely get a National Championship for his program and get his top Players on to High School and College Scholarships, ALL IN THE SAME YEAR! The good part about that is they maximized their talent in the short time that they had them in the St. George’s Program but the downside is the Defending Bahamian High School National Champions will have to start off from scratch this year. We know that Coach Sears is up to the challenge as always and we know that no doubt The Jaguars will have someone that will emerge as most Championship caliber programs that do the right the things always do. At this point however, nobody, even the Jaguar Faithful do not have a concrete answer as to who that person might be. However, Never underestimate the heart of a Champion. Coming in at Number 10 is St. George’s Hs Jaguars.
10. Noble Prep Academy HS: Coming in at a Tie for Number 10 is the Noble Prep Academy Spartans. Noble Prep has been a steadily developing program and school that has helped to educate a lot of Bahamian Student-Athletes since it’s inception. Whilst the BSAA and BAISS simply do not want to let them in to their league and thus they are not a Government school so cannot compete in the GSSSA; There seems to be a basketball impasse which the powers that be in Bahamian Basketball seemingly seem to benefit from by creating such a problem for upstart programs such as this. Noble Prep is College Certified and plays a great brand of basketball, hopefully they are able to compete in the BSAA as a full Fledged member without the Basketball Gerrymandering of the league officials…. then the chips can fall where they may. However, Just based on their Junior Program Noble Prep will be one of the better programs in the country and they are in a Tie for Number 10 in this Preseason Rankings.
Of Note:
Honorable Mention:
Bimini Gateway Christian HS:
Really? I mean Really is a team from the Family Islands really going to be THAT Good? YEAP! This one is! Last season a group of 15 year olds led by 6’4 Combo Guard Lightbourne pushed the defending Champions to the brink in a Tournament here in the capital. We are hearing rumors that the top player from this school has transferred to a Public School in Nassau (Which makes no sense to a lot of people). However, the cupboard is anything but bear for Gateway and they have a highly skilled, disciplined team and program. Bimini Gateway Christian HS narrowly misses a spot in our Top 10 Preseason rankings.
Temple Christian HS:
Temple Christian HS has quietly been a solid program at the HS level here in the Bahamas over the past 4 or five years. The key point of attention for Temple Christian is the fact that their Juniors won the BAISS Championship last year which puts them in a prime position to be BAISS Senior contender on this season. Barring defections and based on how fast these juniors can develop to dominate the Senior level, in any event TCS Basketball is at least worth a mention.
Government High School:
Usually the doorstep of the GSSSA, things are looking up for the GHS Magicmen. GHS has a few talented post players that can definitely make some noise in a few games. GHS had a deep tournament run last year and how good their guard play will determine how far they go.
St. John’s College HS:
The Green Giants will have their fill of quality guards and one in particular who impressed at a few National scouting events; a growing program, St. John’s College HS is on the rise. Need a few quality post players to emerge but things are looking up none the less.
Queen’s College HS:
The Comets have been the final 4 of BAISS Basketball for the last 6 years consecutively, 4 of them ending in Championships. So given that history, they are the most successful BAISS program over that time. All Bahamian Brand Selection, Carifta Medalist and Future NCAA Division I Athlete CJ Johnson possibly transferred, 6’5 Sirmar Rolle is a workman in the post he potentially might still be there and QC has always had quality guard play so we don’t doubt someone will step up. In the BAISS, it’s looking like the usual suspects and Queen’s College is definitely one of them.
Abaco Central High School: A steamroller of a Gateway Christian Team kept Abaco Central from winning the Bahamas Family Island National Championships last season; and a promise made to All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection 6’4 Wing Dremeko McIntosh kept a couple of their best players from moving on to greener pastures, based on reports. We hope it pays off and we hope ACHS makes it do what it does.
Agape Christian Academy:
The well-spring of Basketball Talent that is Abaco has its pick of the litter usually at Agape Christian Academy HS. Agape, has saw 20, yes we counted, 20 College and Elite US High School players walk through it’s doors in the last 8 years. Despite the defections you have to Love Agape for their consistent development and progress on the National High School Basketball Scene.
Ethics in Bahamian Sports Disclaimer:
In Conclusion:
As far as Ethics go, We as a publication simply refuse to rank any program that based on it’s end product visa vie the Student-Athletes that have come from it's Basketball Program most recently:
1. Cannot produce evidence of a Player being in a US College Basketball Uniform on a Full Scholarship after being in the same High School program and completing Grade 10 through 12 at the same school
2. We disavow any affiliation with any program that is caught having such a blatant Track record of abusing the league rules so hard as it relates to recruiting other teams’ players and the transferring in of players from other programs so much so and often times to their detriment of the Student-athletes and their academic development; I.E: Seymour and Trembley
3. We abstain from ranking and supporting programs that refuses to develop younger talented players and observe an outright disregard for the need to assist homegrown talent in their development in their own program AND prefer to steal away players from other programs.
It is absolutely sad, because it is the Children that are hurt and often times most affected. We refuse to give credence to such a brazen flaunting of disregard for the rules representative in any Basketball Program and are kindly requesting the Governing GSSSA Body and The Bahamas High School National Basketball Committee agree to a rules which come into affect immediately which prohibits and monitors the abuses of "Reclassification/ Staying Back in Public Schools" and "Transferring from one school to the next without Hardship and initiated by Coaches/Sports". We are also requesting that the governing bodies deliver an ENFORCED REPRIMAND along with some publically published Guidelines to streamline and curtail these actions from being initiated by Coaches and that which is relatively contributing to this era of Sports Lawlessness (evident more so in some programs which consistently show cause in this regard) moving forward.
Final Points:
1. Ethics in Sports are more important than Championships
2. The Importance of attaining a proper High School Education should be RE-ENFORCED BY SPORTS NOT DENEGRADED IN IT’S VALUE BY Coaches
3. Journalistic Integrity is of paramount importance in disseminating that which is going on in a relative specific discipline.

However, Just based on their Junior Program Noble Prep will be one of the better programs in the country and they are in a Tie for Number 10 in this Preseason Rankings.

All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian High School Rankings
Date: February, 2016
Matchup(s): Basketball, more so than any sport (Other than Tennis) is a game of Matchups. Whilst there are some teams that are clearly person to person and situationally better than others, Fortuitous matchups in the favor of perceivably and obviously under-matched teams along with the growing culture of many players seeing the need to take teams and players for granted.
1. C.I. Gibson HS: The Rattlers have done it again, Year after Year the C.I. Gibson Rattler been solid and despite losing considerable talent year after year, The Rattlers are back in the Number 1 spot. Whilst a clutch 15 minute stretch by 2014 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection Combo Guard D'Angelo Mackey helped to propel C.I. Gibson to the championship, their performance has been consistent. Whether they win the GSSSA Championship series remains to be seen but as of right now, Back at the number 1 spot is C.I. Gibson.
2. St. George's High School: Whilst many of the people voting in Freeport thought that 2014 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection Franklyn Pettion was not the best player in the GBSSA this past year, we are convinced that he was. Whilst some might feel that is debatable, there is no doubt that The Jaguars are the Most Talented team top to bottom in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Some off court decisions that helped their semifinal opponent, but all things considered the Jaguars are a solid team. Coming in at Number 2 is St. George's High School.
3. Sunland Baptist: Whilst many do not believe that newly crowned GBSSA Player of the Year is the best player in Freeport, High scoring Guard Kaleel Solomon are all key contributors for the GBSSA defending Champion Stingers. Whilst they appeared to be a much better team after their trip to the US to play US competition they have used that momentum to push themselves back to the GBSSA Championships for the second straight year. With that said, Sunland is always dangerous and are in at the Number 3 spot in our rankings.
4. C.C. Sweeting Cobras: It would be absolutely absurd to think that there are more than 3 teams in the Bahamas that are better than C.C. Sweeting. The Cobras, despite faltering to the Doris Johnson Marlins are STILL exactly where they were last year at Exactly the same time and are STILL in the exact same position they were in at this time so last year, The MOST DANGEROUS TEAM in the Bahamas. Last year they took the extra time off from the GSSSA Championships, which ended the exact same way (with a loss to Doris Johnson in the game to go to the Championship) to focus on their Hugh Campbell Championship push. Needless to say and as you know, It ended with a Championship last year. Four All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selections continue to develop. Coming in at Number 1 is The C.C. Sweeting Cobras.
5. Jordan Prince William: Making the biggest jump in our Rankings is Jordan Prince William HS, The newly minted 2015 BAISS Champions have made a resurgent rush to the top of Bahamian Private school basketball, incidentally it was under the leadership of one of the best players turned coach in all of Government School Basketball history, Coach Earnest Saunders. Head Coach and a former All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection (Class of 1999) Earnest Saunders was a Star player back in his time in HS and he has Jordan Prince William positioning itself back at the top of the heap in BAISS basketball. Jordan Prince William won Three Tournaments this year, the South Andros Tournament and most recently the 2015 BAISS Championships (In Undefeated Fashion). Heading into run a into this year's Hugh Campbell National Tournament, JPWHS currently has its best chance ever to be a Hugh Campbell Champion with this year's team. They are fast enough, athletic enough and have enough size to compete with anybody in the country; Led by 2015 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection 6'6 Adam Johnson (A True College Basketball Prospect) helps to lead and bolster an extremely well conditioned Falcons team. Mark these words, Whoever the "Dirty Birds" play come tournament time expect there to be some upsets and definitely a tough out. Coming in at number 5 is Jordan Prince William.
6. Doris Johnson HS: 2015 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selections 6'6 Forwards Lathaniel Bastian and Troy Trembley dominate the backline of any opponent they faced this past season via their athleticism, rebounding and hustle. Whilst we feel that guard play matchup against their upcoming opponent is balanced against them but their interior prowess is where they have the advantage. With that said, the uptempo pressing basketball style of play that they practice could lead to their demise if changes arent made, immediately. Furthermore, The Student has put up a good fight but we do not see him being studied enough to beat the Teacher, YET! Coming in at number 6 is Doris Johnson.
7. Jack Heyward HS: Putting up a more than admirable fight have been the Jack Heyward Wildcats who are refusing to roll over and die in their current battle of the cats. Led by JRNT Guard Jalen Hall, Deonte "OX"Hepburn and Coach Hall have a chance but whether it moves to full fruition remains to be seen. This team could be dangerous come Hugh Campbell Tournament time and appear to be as a program headed back in he right direction. Coming in at Number 7 is Jack Heyward.
8. Anatol Rodgers HS: The biggest Christmas present to Anatol Rogers this year was 2015 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection Azaro Roker re-enrolling into School. Roker along with Davis and Bridgewater helped to give the Timberwolves an added punch during the GSSSA Season. In a game that could have went anyway, Coach McCoy's boys dropped a game that they had all but sown up in the closing minutes. Do not forget this club made the Final Four of the Hugh Campbell National Championships last year and they have more than enough to potentially return back to that point, if not farther. Ranked at Number 8 in our Rankings is Anatol Rodgers.
9. Tabernacle Baptist: Tabernacle, as feared, had a solid program but did not have enough to get over the hump in GBSSA High School Basketball This year. Led by Bahamas JRNT Player Franco Miller Jr., their relative lack of comparative interior presence comparable to the other powerhouses in Grand Bahamas basketball is what ultimately led to their demise. They could be dangerous in Hugh Campbell as they are the All-Time Winningest Hugh Campbell Champions but this year it seems as though there are too much other rabbits ahead of this turtle in the race. Coming in at number 9 is The Tabernacle Baptist Falcons.
10 .Queen's College: Coach Smith has done a masterful job of pushing a team that lost so much talent over the past few off season's to 5 straight BAISS Championships Finals. Whilst they fell short the last two years, JRNT reserve Kofi King is one of the best in BAISS and Elliot Greenslade has emerged as a valuable sidekick to compliment the Comet's attack. Not really any surprises here but At the lucky number 10 Queen's College HS.
10. Telios Christian: 2015 All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection 6'8 Jevaughn Ferguson is hands down the best player in BSAA and easily one of the best players in the Country. Telios is right in the midst of a B.S.A.A. Title push and appear to be a formidable outside force to compete against some of the top teams in the Bahamas. At a Tie for number 10 is Telios Christian.
Receiving Votes: Ankephran International (BSAA), Noble Prep Academy (BSAA) –2014 B.S.A.A. Senior Boys Champions, R.M. Bailey Senior HS, St. John's College HS, Mary Star of The Sea (GBSSA), St. Augustine's College HS (BAISS) -Defending 2015 BAISS Pennant Winners, St. John's College HS. (BAISS) – 2015 BAISS Finalist, Temple Christian School, Bimini Hope Christian Academy, Harbour Island School, South Andros High School., Inagua All-Age School, North Andros High School and Central Eleuthera High School .
Falling Out: C.R.Walker (GSSSA)

The Official All Bahamian Brand High School Basketball Rankings:
1. St. George's Jaguars - With a series of quality performances to tip off the season including a Vitamalt Championship and a Runners Up loss to an US High School in the Thanksgiving Tournament Championship; It is almost a foregone conclusion that St. George's is the Number 1 team in Country.
2. C.c. Sweeting HS: Two things for the number two team in the country, Whilst many feel that their lost to C.I. Gibson HS was a fluke or under altered circumstances (All-Bahamian Brand Selections Adrian Thompson and 6'5 Center Anderias Black did not play in the C.I. Gibson Regular Season Game which they lost by a narrow 1 point margin). So it was lost but just barely. Secondly, many have been itching to see the matchup of the top two teams in the country but they might have to wait until a later date. As of right now, C.c. Sweeting comes in at number 2.
3. Sunland Baptist: In a program that has been a National perennial contender for the last 5 years, Whilst it is apart of the general consensus of opinions That Sunland Baptist had their best chance to win thier first National Championship on last season, he way they have been preforming leaves plenty of reason to be optimistic in the future. Leading that charge on the court is Guard extraordinaire Kaleel Solomon ad company. In at Number 3 is "Bonnie's bunch" Sunland Baptist.
4. Tabernacle HS; Whilst the expectations from Tabernacle is always a National Championship ever year as a result of them winning 6 National Championships in their program's history; The depth that has fueled the dominance and High Major Talent that has always been apart of those teams is not a flowing as they have been in recent years; specifically on the Backline. Whilst the next Antuan Bootle (Sam Houston), Waylon Francis (SEMO), Torrington Cox (South Plains and Professional) and Nathan Bain (Stephen F. Austin) all wore the baby blue of Tabernacle if one of them were still in uniform it wouldn't hurt. Tabernacle does have some promising guards on the perimeter in Franco Miller and Russell but at every team that is competing with or beating them is simply alot deeper in the post. However, they still have managed to muscle and out hustle some quality clubs and for that they are the Number 4 team here in this week's edition of The All Bahamian Brand High School Rankings.
5. C.I. Gibson HS: The "Little" squad that could or is it simply a "Championship Pedigree shining through. Its not clear at this moment BUT C.I. Gibson always contend and are amoungst the top programs in the country. Whilst this is one of the smallest "height-wise" teams that C.I. Gibson has had in recent years, they are still competing and pulling "upsets" and competing against bigger clubs. Adderley, Angelo and Asher are helping to lead the squad to this next level of accomplishments and thus far they have overachieved. In at Number 5 is C.I. Gibson HS.
5. Prince William HS: Depth, Unity, Size and a Vocal, aggressive backline led by The All Bahamian Brand Co-Preseason Player of the Year 6'5 Adam Johnson. Mix one of the best and most conditioned teams in Private school History and the Jordan Prince Williams Falcons/ "Dirty Birds" - if they keep it together - should be dancing late into the Season. Micah and Jeff are also one of the best backcourts in BAISS basketball. Big wins over Queen's College and St. Augustine's College prove that they are officially back on the path of being one of the top Programs in the Bahamas. For this The Prince William Falcons lands at Number 5 in the rankings.
6. Noble Prep: Surely we cannot expect or assume that Noble Prep Academy Led by Coach Geno Bullard will not bring a team that will not be able to compete at the highest and or amoungst the higher levels of Bahamian High School Basketball. Surely, They have been quiet but we cannont mistake that for dormant. Noble Prep is always one of the most slept on but they will probably catch someone slipping in the not too near future because of it. Sliding in at number 6 is Noble Prep.
7. Anatol Rodgers HS: Despite some of the early season kinks being worked out, Hopefully for the Timberwolves we believe things will even out. Bridgewater and the "Brilander" Trae Davis are one of the best backcourts in the country so as they grow expect them to gradually push Anatol's performance higher.
8. Queen's College HS: We have wondered all season if All Bahamian Brand Preseason Co-Player of the Year Kofi's (King's) oncourt Diplomacy would be enough to keep propelling the Comets. With so many defections over the past years - for good reasons - The Comets are doing a quality job of contending for the BAISS Pennant. In at Number 8 is Queens College.
9. C.R.Walker HS.: Cormardo and Crew have slowing been pushing to contend in the Ultra competitive GSSSA have quietly used the momentum of a National Championship Caliber Volleyball program and channelled that into some early season success in Basketball. Who steps up with JRNT and All Bahamian Brand Selection Seymour remains to be seen once they are tested by the other top clubs BUT until such time, C.R. Walker is the number 9 Team in the country.
10. Telios: Fergie, some emerging guards and young talent will hopefully provide some help come the end of the season or BSAA Playoffs. (Providing the team stays in tact) As of right now, The Highest Level of Warrior Angels (Cherubims) are on track to seriously contend in BSAA Basketball. Tied at Number 10 is Telios Christian.
10. Ankephran International: Ankephran has some new young pieces emerging to help compliment All Bahamian Selections Alton Brown and Amos Rolle Jr. Despite being 1-1 on the young season. We estimate that Tomorrow's showdown with Fellow BSAA Telios frontrunner will be a telling early season sign of things to come. Coming in at Number 10, Ankephran International School.

2015-2016 Bahamian High School Basketball Preseason
For Immediate Release
Date: As At October 18th, 2015)
1. C.c. Sweeting High School – The Defending Hugh Campbell National Champion C.C. Sweeting Cobras had a few defections from this past year (namely 6'7 Post Garrith Moss), was the only major defection from a team that lost less than 5 games all season. The Cobras return Junior National Teamers 6'4 Guard Corey Sands, 6'4 Wing Adrian “Beaver” Thompson and reigning Hugh Campbell MVP Michael Bethel. The Cobras are the modern Bahamian High School Basketball Dynasty winning 4 Titles in the last 6 years led by Mario Bowleg. With that said, CC Sweeting made the biggest offseason coaching acquisition by adding Wayde Adderley (The former coach that built Abaco's Agape Christian's Basketball into a program to their staff this past offseason) and look to keep that going. Expect the tradionally tough Cobras teams to mix in a higher level of skill to an already solid program.
2. Sunland Baptist – The defending GBSSA Champions, clutched the trophy as the best team in Freeport Grand Bahama last year after lining things up correctly after visiting the US on a High School tour against US High school competition. The Stingers used that momentum to finish out the year on a tear and were virtually unbeatable against Bahamian Competition when they returned to the Bahamas to complete the GBSSA season. Whilst, we have no doubt that Sunland had everything it took and very well couldve finished the Season as the National Champions provided they were permitted to attend the Hugh Campbell National Tournament on last season. Despite losing 6'8 Forward Andrew Roker (NJCAA Walters State JUCO Signee) to graduation Bonnie's bunch is back and reloaded with some of the finest talent the Bahamas has to offer. Rebounding and Size is never an issue, Guard play and player development also consistently improves throughout the year. As Usual, expect the Sun to shine on the Stingers this season. Sunland in at Number 2
3. C.I. Gibson HS – Egypt wasn't always a dynasty eventhough it's rule and influence has stretched long and far throughout history. On the same note, C.I. Gibson HS whilst it appeared that it's Bahamian Basketball dynasty would be waining a few years ago and even at a few moments throughout last season, They managed to uphold it and finish strong winning the 2014 Hugh Campbell National Championship and then making the Championship game last season. Gone is All Bahamian Brand National Player of The Year Shakwon Lewis but enter the biggest On Court Acquisition of the Year in Angelo “Jello” Mackey to the CI Gibson lineup. Add in a few other key transfers and of course Championship level coaching and C.I. Gibson will be back. C.I. also just won the D.W. Davis Tournament on yesterday (Saturday 18 October, 2015) to start the Season. C.I. Gibson comes in at Number 3.
4. St. George's High School – Coach Darrell Sears once again has the cupboard filled with Three Bahamian Junior National Team members and a solid group of young burgeoning talent to go along with it. The Jaguars are once again one of the top contenders for the title of being the best team in Freeport, Grand Bahama on this upcoming season. Jaguars in a tie for Fourth. Franklyn Pettion is in early candidate National and GBSSA Player of the Year. Ladies an Gentlemen, The ever humble Darrell Sears will always be modest but this year he has the solidest most proven rotation 1-5 in the country and a backcourt that is easily one of the Toughest and the best in The Bahamas. Jaguars in a Tie for The Preaseason 4th spot.
4. Sir Jack Hayward HS – The sweet spot for talent is still overflowing from the area that housed the former (now defunct) Hawksbill High School. Skip forward a few years and whilst Hayward HS was thought to have “fell off” since the days when Division I Talents like Buddy Hield, Trevor Williams, Marvin Gray, Chester Griffin and Philip Jones walked the hallways. Somethings going on that is somewhat of a resurgence appears to be brewing in Hayward HS Basketball. The Hall Brothers have quality coaching experience and what can be seen as the most talent they have had in many years since the yester-years of domination past is currently apart of the program. Former JRNT Guard Jalen Hall,Wing Transfer from “Abaco” Raymond and Post Dante “OX” Hepburn will make Wildcats have some much needed bite hopefully this upcoming season. It will be “The battle of the Snakes” in Nassau and the “The Battle of the Cats – Jaguars versus Wildcats - will be one to watch in Freeport. The Wildcats come in Tied for 4th in our Preseason Rankings.
5. Noble Prep Academy – In an unprecedented Guinness World Book Record Performance, Noble Prep Academy finished the year as the only team in Bahamian History to send every Graduating player to College and have every player finish with a 3.0 Grade Point Average. With that said, they are also one of the best Basketball programs in the Country and have been for at least the last 15 years. Aaron “The Kid” Lloyd is in long line of Superstar guards to come from under the tuteledge of Head Coach Geno Bullard. From Edvardo “Kobe” Burrows to Larry Smith to Geno Bullard to Marako Lundy to Wray Stubbs to Shamar Burrows to Livingston Bromwell to Tenerro Ferguson to Sharanno Hanna, the list goes on and on. Expect Noble to be at or near the top of competition when they do compete and expect some quality performances from Lloyd and whoever else emerges from the juggernaut that is Noble. In at Number 5 is Noble Prep Academy.
6. Tabernacle Baptist – All Bahamian Level Guards Cedric Delancey, JRNT Member Franco Miller, Ben Russell and Company are just enough to keep the Falcons competing for a GBSSA Championship. Despite losing All Bahamian Brand GBSSA Player of the Year and All Bahamian Brand Selection Raheem “Mr. Clutch” Laing, Tabernacle should be competitive again this year. Has the mystique of Tabernacle worn off or are they reloaded for another run? In the tough GBSSA and with the VitaMalt Tip Off Classic beginning on this upcoming week, We will find out right away if the Falcons still can take flight at Number 6.
7. Doris Johnson HS – The best off season recruitiing “effort” in the entire country ends with a log jam of fair to mid-talent youngsters competing for a few spots and the longest bench in the country. Whilst it did yield some quality additions in 6'6 Troy Trembley and a 6'6 Transfer from Telios Christian, The core of the National Runner's up team in 2014 and the National contenders last year is virtually gone. Will this “NEW” group be as hungry and eager to overthrow the traditional powers as the past teams did? Only time will tell. Doris Johnson HS comes in at Number 5 in our Preseason Rankings.
7. Telios Christian – Whilst the Cheribums no doubt have one of the best BSA Girls Teams in the country featuring BSA Player of the Year Candidate 5'8 Angelique Bethel, 6'4 Aaliyah Gibson (Yes! She is 6'4! We are professionals and we do not exaggerate) and 6'2 Potential Carifta/Olympian Marcella Dean, The Boys team isnt that shabby either. New Transfer Ferguson heads over to a team that made the BSA Championship last year and expect them to have some good showings on this upcoming year. Did we mention that Telios' Junior Boys program won last years BSA Championship as well so there will be plenty of hungry talented young newcomers moving up to the Varsity level to join him. Hats off to Pastor Dave Adams for investing in the Bahamian Youth and giving them an opportunity. Telios comes in at the Lucky number 7 In our Preseason Rankings.
8. Queen's College Hs. - IF and only “IF” All of the Queen's and All the Kings and all of their Knighted noble's money could have kept the one of the best interior Post prospects in recent memory in the Bahamas, Jevaughn Ferguson, in a Queen's College uniform, then our Preseason Rankings would be considerably different. Queen's College has the best core of Private school Guards and wings that the BAISS has to offer and with that burgeoning young talent in the post, The second wave of the ongoing BAISS Basketball dynasty would have been secured for at least one more year. It could even be said that Queen's College might have been able to compete for a National Title....In Basketball! Ladies and Gentlemen, What “If”? Whilst the Comets have enough to be ranked our highest BAISS team in this Poll and very well still could win the BAISS Championship this year, Who know's how far they could go. A Hugh Campbell Championship would have been sweet Trumpet music to the Comet faithful. Guards Kofi King, Dylan Culmer and the rest of quality wings and guards will give anybody in BAISS fits this year BUT even if they clutch the championship come year end it will still seem as though it couldve been so much more. The Comets come in at Number 8 in our Preseason High School Rankings.
9. Anatol Rogers High School –“The Brilander and Bridgewater” (Trae Davis and Bridgewater) formed one of the Best young backcourts in GSSSA Basketball and Roker and Richardson were formidable in the post for the Timberwolves last year. So much so until it pushed Coach Harcourt McCoy into his best Hugh Campbell National Championship finish (Third Overall Nationally). This year with the losses in the interior in both post presences in The 6'6 Roker and 6'8 Richardson (One to US High School and the other to a Transfer). Who ever steps up has some opportunity based on filling that void but in a guard driven environment, The Timberwolves should be fine. Coming in at Number 9 in our Preseason Rankings.
10. Ankephran International – A focused 6'6 Alton Burrows has all the tools and potential necessary to lead the the Scarabs to a BSA championship and can help to take the Ankephran School to Newer Heigher heights. Will he get some help in this quest and will or is the Coaching situation solidified enough to see that all the way through. Whilst the clear front runner for the BSA Championship is not all but set in stone, expect Ankephran to contend with the Elites of BSA Basketball.
Receiving Votes: Zion Baptist (BSA) – Defending 2015 B.S.A. Senior Boys Champions, C.R. Walker HS (GSSSA), Jordan Prince William HS (BAISS), St. Augustine's College HS (BAISS) -Defending 2015 BAISS Pennant Winners, St. John's College HS. Final 2014-2015 All Bahamian Brand© Bahamian High School Basketball Rankings
The All Bahamian Brand© Rankings
2014-2015 All Bahamian Brand© Final Bahamian High School Basketball Rankings
1. C.C. Sweeting Senior High School – All Season the C.C. Sweeting Cobras looked promising but hit a few spots where they did not reach their full potential, However after outmuscling and outplaying C.I Gibson and all comers at the Hugh Campbell National Tournament. C.C. Sweeting is back on top of the rankings as King Snake. The backcourt of the Future in GSSSA Basketball Corey Sands and Hugh Campbell MVP Michael Bethel proved that they are truly one of best if not the best in the country, C.C. Sweeting claims our Number One position in our Rankings.
2. Sunland Baptist Stingers - With an influx of exhuberant new energy to the Coaching Staff, some All Bahamian Level Talent in Guard Andrew Roker and Forward Daniel Wright and a system that has made catapulted Sunland to the top of Freeport and the top of our Rankings. Sunland Baptist claimed their first G.B.S.S.S.A. Championship by beating traditional powerhouse Tabernacle. All this is good enough for the second spot in our Final High School Basketball Rankings. At number 2, Sunland Baptist Stingers.
3. C.I. Gibson - Undeniably, All Bahamian Brand National Player of the Year Shakwon Lewis is the best player in the country. A pleasant surprise was his backcourt mates, Johnly Noel and Michael Sweeting. Additionally, 6'6 Forward Ira Farrington is one of, if not the best shot Blocker in the Country and a potential college talent. Despite losing alot from this past season and losing in the National Championship Game, The C.I Gibson Rattlers finish the season in the Number Three Spot.
4. Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy – Second Kings verse 6:28 to 29.
4. Anatol Rodgers HS - Everybody thought that Next Year Anatol would be poised and primed for a run at a Championship, Nobody and we stress, nobody expected Anatol to peak as soon as it did this year. McCoy's boys scratched clawed and overachieved every game and pushed themselves to their best finish in school history, a Third Place Finish at the Hugh Campbell National Tournament. The future looks bright with 10th Grader Dominic Bridgewater controlling the point and expect Anatol to add some talent over the summer. Anatol comes in at Number
5. St Johns College - With one of the best players in the country, BAISS Player of The Year 6' 6 Forward Dwight Wheatley pushing and motivating everybody, St Johns for the first time in a long time claimed the BAISS Senior Boys title. Whilst some feel it maand take just as long for St. johns to win another title as it did to earn this one, The Giants have this championship to savour whilst working towards another in future years. STJC comes in at Number 5 Overall in our Final Rankings.
5. Zion Christian Academy Eagles:
Zion used some timely Coaching and some key off season additions to win the BSAA High school Senior Boys Championship. It was their first in school history and it has definitely pushed Zion to a higher place of praise. Answering the call in the post was 6'5 Post Asher Scavella or Guard Nixon and who every time Zion needed a basket or key play they delivered. Congrats to the 2014-2015 BSAA Champions and Zion Academy comes tied at number 5 in our final rankings.
6. Queens College Comets -
On paper the BAISS Team of the future peaked one year early and ended up winning a few tournaments and riding their youthful exuberance to a BAISS Runners Up finish. With much of the talent returning and a vibrant Junior Program QC is the early favorite for next season. As it stands now, The Comets finish this year's Rankings in the Number 6 spot.
7. Saint George’s HS. –Tournament time is Coach Sears and the Jaguars favorite time of year. Despite the ruling of the Higher ups, We feel and know that the Jaguars would've definitely fought to achieve over and above their potential. Coming in at our Lucky Number 7 spot in our Final rankings is the St. George's Jaguars.
8. Saint Augustine’s College – . Whilst they do need to participate in a National High School Championship event to regain the notoriety of years past, St. Augustine's is still worthy of a spot in the Top Ten. St. Augustines features one of the top players in the country in Underclassmen Combo Guard De'Angelo Mackey. At the number number 8 position is St. Augustine's College.
9. Noble Preparatory Academy – Last years BSAA League Champions, The Noble Prep Academy Spartan did not participate in the BSAA Season this year. Despite that, Bullard's bunch defeated some Canadian competition and was STILL one of the best Teams in the entire country. Noble Prep comes in our Number 9 spot in the Final Basketball Rankings.
10. Agape Christian HS - After we assumed that Agape was down this year, Agape came to New Providence and made a statement with its tough, uptempo and outright gritty play. Its Official Coach Wayde Adderley has built Agape in a PROGRAM! The Eagles defeated C. R.Walker, CV Bethel and North Eleuthera High school whilst also narrowly losing to Number 4 ranked St. Georges by 1 point. A solid Showing at Hugh Campbell helps to solidify Agape as one of the top teams in the country. High Scoring All Bahamian Nominee 6'1 Guard Brandon Rolle is one of the best in the country. Ladies and Gentlemen you have to love Agape coming in at our number 10 spot in our Final Rankings.

Latest 2014-2015 All Bahamian Brand Bahamian High School Basketball Rankings
February 2015 Edition
Release Date: February 14th, 2015
(Interesting Side Note: We would love to see two some of the young upcoming and rising coaches’ face off against each other in Marco Cooper/Jay Phillippe (Sunland Baptist) and Leonardo Forbes (St. John’s) or Bowles (Johnson Hs.) and Wayde Adderley (Agape) etc. but if that happens is anybody’s guess.
1. C.I. Gibson - Undeniably, and we have to state it again here, 2014-2015 All Bahamian Brand Preseason National Player of the Year Shakwon Lewis is the best player in the country. Nothing was more sensational than backcourt mate Sweeting and the great help along the baseline in Ira Farrington and others that helped the Rattlers to claim the 2014-2015 GSSSA Championship a few weeks ago. Here again as we look at the pools for the 2014-2015 Hugh Campbell National Championship Tournament, we see that the Rattlers are projected (based on paper) to have the path of least resistance in their attempts to make it to the Pool Championship. However, the defending Champions are back and poised to make a deep run and looking for yet another title. The Rattlers remain in the Number One Spot.
2. Sunland Baptist Academy – Broken Glass EVERYWHERE!! The Sunland Baptist Stingers had not been able to, until just a few hours ago, win the Grand Bahamas Secondary School Sports Association Senior Boys Championship but hats off to our 2014-2015 Bahamian High School Basketball Coach of the Year Jay Phillippe for helping to push past the all comers in Grand Bahamas and help to take the program to where it had not been before, a GBSSSA Championship. The Sunland Baptist Stingers are the newly minted 2014-2015 GBSSSA Senior Boys Champions! Now it is time to maximize off the momentum and use that charisma to take the Stingers into the Hugh Campbell National Tournament that begins this coming week. Ladies and Gentlemen, Broken Glass everywhere! Sunland Baptist Stingers are the Number Two Ranked Team.
3. Saint John’s College HS –We guess they took our word for it! St. John’s College Giants played and competed valiantly and their effort, energy hustle and just plain our right “Will to win” is stuff that Championship programs are made of. Having now two of the best players in the country, 6' 6 Forward Dwight Wheatley and now BAISS Championship Series MVP Ayinde Maynard, St Johns clawed and scratched their way up the rankings by knocking off top team after top team on their way to winning the 2014-2015 BAISS Senior Boys Championship. Coach Leonardo Forbes is a rising star in the Bahamian High School Basketball coaching profession and the final proving ground for this season will be This upcoming weeks 2014-2015 Hugh Campbell National Championship Tournament. Like we said a few weeks ago, before this magical run by St. John’s, Eventhough it might be an outside chance to win a Title, it's still a chance). STJC after making this biggest jump in our rankings comes in at Number 3 Overall.
4. Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy - There is No Doubt that Raheem Laing is the 2014-2015 GBSSA National Player of the year, An All Bahamian Brand Top Five Player in the Country and at least definitely a Low to Mid Major College Prospect. Laing has more clutch that 650 and his game translates when he plays bigger and better competition in the US. With that said, the final step of his High School Journey is finally here for him, The 2014-2015 Hugh Campbell National Championship Tournament. The Question is simple: “Can Laing and the gang bring back the Championship Rings?”
or “will it be all for not, if the Falcons get caught?” Coach Bain is a master and Tabernacle has had a solid overall season thus far but can they end this season on the ultimate high note? Only time will tell and we will all know the answer by this time so next week.
5. Queen’s College - The future looks bright for the Queens College Comets (As usual they finished in the Championship series and were competitive at the Junior boys and Senior Boys Level as well as being one of the best on the girls side of BAISS basketball. As it relates to Coach Smith’s group, Queens College has put together a solid season overall. Wins at Father Marcian Peters and a spot in the 2014-2015 BAISS Championship Series help to place Queen’s College in prime position come the this week’s Hugh Campbell National Champions Tournament. Coming in at Number 5 is the Queen’s College Comets.
5. Doris Johnson High School – Nobody really knows who and what is going to happen at Hugh Campbell this upcoming week, but for all of you that are sure one of the teams that you probably wont be betting against is Doris Johnson. Doris has a history of winning big games dating back to their first ever game when the Marlins defeated Coach Charles Mackey’s highly ranked Pacers squad in their first game in school history or even their upset win over Tabernacle last season in the National Tournament. Making the GSSSA championship again this season was something that many didn’t expect either, so long story short the Doris Johnson Marlins are a dangerous team. Can Coach Bowles conjure up more Magic for the Mystical Marlins? At a tie for number 5 are the Doris Johnson Marlins.
6. C.C. Sweeting Senior High School – Two years removed from a Hugh Campbell National Championship and a few weeks removed from a heartbreaking surprise loss in the 2014-2015 GSSSA Championship Playoffs, C.C. Sweeting and coach Mario still has a team that is to be reckoned with.
Good guards, Active post and solid wings, Uptempo and aggressive overall, the Cobras are always dangerous, especially come tournament time. At Number 6 are the C.C. Sweeting Cobras.
7. Agape Christian HS – We are Officially naming Agape Christian and Coach Wayde Adderley’s team the 2014-2015 All Bahamian Brand Senior Boys Out-Island Champions! Agape is a PROGRAM that stands above the rest of many of the Out-Island clubs. The Eagles defeated C. R.Walker, CV Bethel and North Eleuthera High school and have simply not been able to put it all together YET come Hugh Campbell Tournament time, Will this be the year? Ladies and Gentlemen you have to love Agape coming in at our number 7 spot.
7. Noble Preparatory Academy –The defending BSA League Champions, The Noble Prep academy Spartans and Coach Geno Bullard's bunch rise to the occasion every Tournament. People can ask alot of questions but one thing that CAN NOT be questioned is the fact that NPA is one of the best combination Institutions of Secondary Educational Learning and Athletic programs in the Entire Bahamas. Hugh Campbell’s time is Noble’s time: Noble Prep comes in at a Tie for our Number spot.
8. Saint George’s HS. –Most people can feel it, It’s almost inevitable. It’s been a rough time for Coach Sears and St. George’s Basketball however there is and cannot be any counting out the Jaguars, especially come this time of year. For all the ups and downs, Coach Sears “the Bahamian Calipari” will admittedly say that whilst it may appear to be down now this super talented team 1 through 12 is potentially headed upwards. Does it start next season or does it start now at this 2014-2015 Hugh Campbell National Tournament? All we can do is wait and see…At number 8 is the St. George’s Jaguars.
9. Saint Augustine’s College – Disappointing to say the least but from what we know of all the hardwork and expectations thrust on St. Augustines College every year we know nobody is more disappointed than Coach Edwards. St. Augustine’s College breezed through the regular season but one unlucky bounce, a protest and a run in with a team of destiny ended what was an otherwise great season. St. Augustine’s College continues it streak of having a BAISS banner hang consecutively for 48 straight years (Either BAISS Track and Field or Basketball – pennant, regular season or championship series) however they will have to settle for a BAISS Pennant Banner this year. Hats off to Coach Edwards and St. Augustine’s College on an overall solid season. St. Augustine's is still worthy of a spot in the Top Ten. At number number 9 is St. Augustine's College.
10. Teleos Christian Cherubims – The Teleos Cherubim (Definition: The members of the Holy court of Angels have been holding court in the BSA thus far. Perenial BSA POY Betrum Minnis has been consistent and BSA’s performance has been improving. Coming in at Number 10 is Teleos Christian.

Early January 2015 Edition
1. C.I. Gibson - Undeniably, All Bahamian Brand Preseason National Player of the Year Shakwon Lewis is the best player in the country. A pleasant surprise is his backcourt mate and a deep, aggressive supporting cast that CI Gibson features. Whilst they did have the easiest route to the Pool Championship at their own tournament, they did manage to get some quality wins against some tough competition in the later rounds. With that said, The Rattlers remain in the Number One Spot.
2. Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy – Tabernacle after a tournament win in Freeport where they defeated the previously higher ranked Sunland Baptist and downed next in line St. Georges climbs back to the Number 2 spot. A few tough wins against American competition over the Christmas break also help to solidify their claim here.
3. C.C. Sweeting Senior High School – Whilst C.C. Sweeting looked solid in the Providence Tournament (They made the Championship Finals); The Cobras are still a few spots shy of being the King Snake in our rankings. The backcourt of the Future in GSSSA Basketball along with being solid at every position, C.C. Sweeting claims our Number Three position.
4. Saint George’s HS. –Like we stated in our last rankings on last month, The Jaguars were dangerous and would peak at the right time. The Jags since that time have finished second in a tournament in Freeport and Third in a tournament in a New providence. The Jaguars jump 4 positions in our rankings from 8th to the fourth spot.
5. Saint Augustine’s College – After a solid showing in the KSA Challenge ( One in which they defeated a visiting American Team), St. Augustine's definitely has a signature win. Whilst many might argue that there is a SAC bias among the media, there is no denying that this team has one of the better collections of guard talent from a SAC club in recent years. ( One would have to think back to Tarik Serville, Surgeon Johnson and Co. or Butler, Austin and Turnquest of yesteryear to find a better backcourt bunch. Whilst they do need to participate in a National High School Championship event to regain the notoriety of years past, St. Augustine's is still worthy of a spot in the Top Ten. At number number 5 is St. Augustine's College.
5. Sunland Baptist Academy – Sunland Baptist hasn't been able to maximize off the momentum that it had from its early season luster. Since defeating Tabernacle and
St. Geoeges, since that time they have lost to both of those clubs. The stinger's have recently competed and went 2-2 in a tournament and in the US against american competition thus they only drop 3 spots to a Tie for The number 5 position.
5. Noble Preparatory Academy – In a tie for Fifth spot is The defending BSA League Champions, The Noble Prep academy Spartans. Bullard's bunch defeated some Canadian competition and even had time to do some charity work over the holidays. Still the top team in Senior boys in the BSA and still one of the top programs in The entire Bahamas. Noble Prep comes in at a Tie for Number 5.
6. Teleos Christian Cherubims - The team of December definitely has to be the Teleos Christian Cherubims. (Note: A Cherubim is a member of the Holy court of Angels) Interestingly enough, The Player of December definitely has to be Betrum Minnis Guard from Teleos. Minnis willed his small Teleos Christian to a final four appearance at the most recent Holiday Tournament through sure skill and grit. Teleos made a deep run into the late rounds of The B.S.A. last year and it looks like they will be working their way back towards that mark again this year. Coming in at Number 6 is Teleos Christian.
7. Queen’s College – After narrowly missing the Final Four on a defeat against an upstart Teleos Club, having already claimed a Championship victory in last weeks Father Marcian Peters Tournament, The Comets have more than a few signature victories on the young season. A maturing growing group definitely looks to be heading into the right direction, All eyes focus now to the BAISS matchups against St. Johns (7th January 2015 at Home) and St. Augustine's College ( 21st January 2015 AT SAC) which will no doubt determine the BAISS Regular Season Championship/Pennant. Queens College Comets come in at the Lucky Number 7.
8. Agape Christian HS - After we assumed that Agape was down this year, Agape came to New Providence and made a statement with its tough, uptempo and outright gritty play. Its Official Coach Wayde Adderley has built Agape in a PROGRAM! The Eagles defeated C. 10. Anatol Rodgers High School – IF, and we stress the word If, the Timberwolves can continue to ride the momentum of a Solid overall performance at this most recent tournament, McCoy's Boys could end up making a deep run into the GSSSA Playoffs and maybe even futher. This team resembles last years Doris Johnson group before they made thier magical run to the Hugh Campbell Championship Game. (Interesting Note: McCoy coached many of the players from Doris Johnson's team when he was at Doris in previous years). Whilst there is literally no easy games in the Ultra tough GSSSA, based on the most recent momentum Anatol get the nod here. Coming in at Number 10 and looking like our sleeper team is Anatol Rodgers.

2. Saint Augustine’s College – Impressive in the early season contest, St. Augustine’s College Hs. Is looking good heading into the inevitable showdown with the Three Time Defending BAISS Champion Queens College Comets.
3. Sunland Baptist Academy – Pulling off a few upsets beating Tabernacle and St. George’s Hs (who were both previously ranked higher than them) Sunland Baptist jumps into our third overall spot.
4. C.C. Sweeting Senior High School – It’s early but CC. Sweeting looks like the second best team in GSSSA basketball after a solid first half of the GSSSA Season. Super Mario’s club comes in At Number Four C.C. Sweeting Hs.
5. Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy – After dropping three spots after an underachieving performance at their own Thanksgiving Tournament, Tabby falls to our Number 5 spot in the Rankings. However, Expect Tabernacle to bounce back.
6. Noble Preparatory Academy – The defending BSA League Champions have lost quite possibly two of the best young players in the Bahamas over the last three seasons, (in Livingston Bromwell and Shamar Burrows), however they keep on trucking. Geno’s Gang come in at Number 6.
7. Queen’s College – Never underestimate the heart of a champion, whilst this Comets group is young they still have all of the talent to be and they continue to be a force to reckon with in BAISS and Bahamian High School Basketball. Which Queen’s College will emerge? The group of youngsters that have to outgrow their immaturity or a group of poised youngsters that overachieve and keep the streak going to make it Four straight BAISS Titles. Only time will tell.
8. Saint George’s HS. – Some say early season struggles others say growing pains, no matter that you say, Coach Sears’ teams have ALWAYS looked better come Tournament time and the during the second Half of the season. Whilst (Almost) everybody is starting to count them out based on a few early season contest. Three things are sure, They always will keep working hard, Talent that works hard always wins out and The Jaguars always peak at the right time.
9. Saint John’s College HS – The Giant in the land of the Green Giants, Dwight Wheatley is easily one of the best players in the Bahamas and he is Definitely a candidate for Our BAISS Player of the Year Selection. Whilst defections in the backcourt from last season's team have caused Wheatley to have to shoulder more of the load, thus far he has looked impressive in that expanded role. STJC comes in at Number 9 Overall.
10. Doris Johnson High School – With a lot of returners from a successful team last year ( a 2013-2014 Hugh Campbell National Runner’s Up Finish), The Marlins have all of the talent to again be competitive on the National Stage.
